Overview
Involved in the delivery, ongoing/through-life support and obsolescence treatment of Navy's TWO set of differing Simulators that are used in training for the Australian Collins Class Submarine.
Approach
The TWO set of Simulators are very different in terms of their fidelity with one being modernised as a classroom trainer and another as a platform system.
The aims and approach of the simulator can be summarised by Lieutenant Commander Ian Dawson, manager of Engineering Training at HMAS Stirling, said:
“The simulator plays a vital role in training our submarine crews. The upgrade should substantially improve reliability and allow us to optimise the training throughput of our future submariners”.
